When the numbers did not add up, Jamel examined the records and demanded answers.
- More than $80,000 in rent and security-deposit overcharges returned
- Evictions halted during audits; a standing audit plan established

As Safety Committee Chair, Jamel strengthened staffing, enforcement and readiness.

- Housing essentials, down-payment help and support for unhoused families

A practical and compassionate response that helped Summit achieve Functional Zero.
- Worked personally to obtain services and housing for existing homeless individuals
- Helped develop a process to quickly identify and assist newly unhoused residents
